What inspired you to start Hope SA Organisation, and how did you initially navigate the challenges of establishing and growing an organisation focused on community outreach and disaster relief?

“My experiences with GBV in my childhood years, where my mum endured abuse at the hands of my dad who consumed too much alcohol, inspired me to help those in similar situations. This led to founding Hope SA Foundation in 2000, officially registered in 2020.

Our mission, "Each One Help One," drives our efforts in combating food insecurity, providing clean water, and offering essential healthcare services, eye testing. GBV support as well as disaster relief.”

What are some of the most significant sacrifices you and your team have made in order to sustain and expand your outreach efforts, and how do you manage the emotional and logistical aspects of this work?

“Securing consistent funding and resources is challenging. Building trust with donors and navigating logistical issues during crises requires community engagement and transparent communication.”

HOPE SA Organisation’s mission is to empower individuals and create lasting change in marginalised communities. Can you share a specific story or initiative from your work that exemplifies this vision and demonstrates the tangible impact of your efforts?

“There are so many as we do this work daily. A memorable moment for me was working with the Boksburg disaster relief and having parents of the affected families show us so much appreciation for being a pillar of strength and hope for them during tough times. I am so grateful to be able to be a Blessing.”

The UN Sustainable Development Goals guide your work. In what ways do you ensure that HOPE SA’s initiatives not only address immediate needs but also contribute to longterm, sustainable solutions for the communities you serve?

“We offer workshops, self-defence training, and we make #SaferWomen hope care packs and sanitary pads. These initiatives empower survivors, educate them and promote dignity. My goal is to open shelters for safety. We require support and sponsors to make this a reality.”

What is your advice for young women who are inspired by your story and sheer tenacity to serve others?

“Stay committed to your vision and be resilient. With God, everything is possible. Surround yourself with a supportive network, seek mentorship, and remember the power of collective effort. Have faith and Keep Hope Alive."
